What a bespoke kitchen actually costs

Every kitchen we build is individually priced against a surveyed room — so instead of a headline number that collapses at the first site visit, here is exactly what moves the figure up and down, and how to get a real one for your own space within 12 hours.

  • · No showroom margin
  • · Made & fitted in-house

— Six things that move the number

What you are paying for

— 01

The size and shape of the room

Run length, not floor area, sets the cabinetry cost. A galley with six metres of run can cost more than a large square room with two walls of glazing. Tall banks, islands and pantries add run; open walls remove it.

— 02

Cabinet construction and finish

Carcass material, drawer-box quality and finish decide the bulk of the figure. Hand-sprayed and hand-finished fronts, veneers and fluted or curved detail sit above a flat matt lacquer. Handleless and shadow-gap details take more workshop hours.

— 03

Worktops and stone

Quartz, porcelain, granite and natural marble sit at very different levels, and so do thickness, mitred edges, waterfall returns, full-height splashbacks and bookmatched veining. Slab selection and templating are always priced against the actual stone.

— 04

Appliances and specification

Appliances are frequently a fifth of a project. Integrated columns, wine cabinets, boiling taps, extraction and specialist ventilation change both the appliance line and the cabinetry built to house them.

— 05

Site works most quotes omit

Moving services, re-plastering, flooring, electrics, plumbing alterations, making good and waste removal. We identify these at survey so they are in the number from the start rather than arriving as variations mid-install.

— 06

Access and building constraints

Lift-only access, listed interiors, permit bays, estate working hours and lower-ground levels all affect install time. London projects live or die on this and it belongs in the price, not in a surprise invoice.

— Breakdown

Where the money goes

Cabinetry & joinery
The largest single element on almost every project — carcasses, fronts, internal storage and the workshop hours behind them.
Worktops & stone
Second largest on most kitchens once mitres, returns and splashbacks are included.
Appliances
Client-specified, and the easiest line to move up or down without touching the design.
Design, survey & drawings
Technical drawings to a 0.2mm tolerance, carried into the project once you proceed.
Installation
Our own joiners, one installation week, templated stone and final calibration.

How to get more kitchen for the same money

  1. 01

    Buy direct from the maker

There is no showroom margin, no franchise fee and no subcontracted fitting mark-up in a Dominus price. You pay for cabinetry and labour, not a high-street lease.

  2. 02

    Spend on what you touch

Drawer boxes, hinges, runners and worktop are used daily. Put budget there and take it out of decorative elements that only affect one wall.

  3. 03

    Let the appliances flex

The same kitchen can be specified with very different appliance packages. We price it both ways so the decision is yours, not a default.

  4. 04

Fix the scope before you start

Most overspend is variations. A proper survey and full drawings before manufacture means the figure you sign is the figure you pay.

— Questions

Before you budget

Why don't you publish fixed prices?
Because nothing is standard. Every kitchen is drawn to a surveyed room and priced against those drawings, the finishes chosen and the site works needed. A published price would either be a headline that never survives the survey or a figure padded to cover the worst case.
How quickly can I get a real number?
You have an indicative figure within 12 hours of the consultation, and a fully itemised price once drawings are signed off.
Is the quote fully inclusive?
Yes. Design, cabinetry, worktops, installation and the site works we identify at survey are all in the number. Appliances are listed separately so you can see exactly what they contribute.
Do you take a large deposit?
Payments are staged against milestones — order, workshop build and installation. Nothing is taken before drawings are agreed.
How long does the work take?
Three to four weeks from signed drawings: consultation and survey, design, workshop build, then a single installation week.
