Planning around the threshold
When a kitchen opens onto a garden, the doors set the traffic route through the room. We plan the island's long axis parallel to that route, keep the seating side facing the glazing, and put the bin and back-door storage within a step of the threshold. German cabinetry, |hand-finished in London| by one team.
Pale blue with a warm base
The blue is chosen with a warm base so it works against greenery rather than fighting it. In summer the garden pushes green light into the room, which turns cool blues grey — this one holds.
Shaker joinery for family use
Painted shaker doors, solid oak dovetailed drawer boxes, full-extension soft-close runners and a full-height larder. Low-level storage is drawers throughout so children can reach what they need without opening doors into the walkway.
Floors, brass and durability
Warm engineered oak flooring runs through the threshold to the garden doors, visually extending the room outside. Brass hardware and a robust quartzite or porcelain worktop keep maintenance low in a room that sees muddy boots and wet dogs.

Asked often.
Will the blue clash with the garden?
Not with a warm-based blue. Cool blues turn grey under green summer light, which is why we sample the colour on site before signing it off.
Which worktop for a house with pets and children?
Quartzite or full-body porcelain — non-porous, heat-resistant and needing no sealing.
How much does a blue shaker family kitchen cost in London?
Most projects fall between £32,000 and £78,000 fitted, including cabinetry, stone, hardware and installation. No middlemen.
