Why a dark kitchen works in a hard room
Warehouse and loft interiors are defined by structure: exposed brick, steel columns, high ceilings and industrial glazing. A pale kitchen fights that. A dark one recedes, letting the building's own geometry stay the loudest thing in the room.
Industrial Noir is drawn as a single dark mass punctuated by two lighter events — the stone worktop's veining and the metal shelving that carries glassware and daily objects.
Cabinetry, metal and texture
Fronts are supplied in matte two-pack lacquer, blackened steel-clad ply, or fine-textured melamine with an anti-fingerprint surface — the last of these being the practical choice in a household where everything gets touched.
Steel elements are hot-blackened rather than powder-coated, so the finish varies subtly across each sheet and ages honestly instead of chipping to a bright edge. All fabricated by |one team| — no subcontractors.
Stone and the working surface
Worktops are dark honed granite, Nero Marquina marble or black sintered stone, cut at 20 mm with a mitred apron to read heavier than it is. A waterfall island end turns the whole piece into one continuous block.
Because dark stone shows dust and water marks more than pale stone, we recommend a honed or leathered finish over polished in a working kitchen.
Lighting a black kitchen properly
The single most common failure in a dark kitchen is under-lighting. This scheme uses three separate circuits: high-CRI task lighting at 3000 K under every wall run, warm accent light inside the open shelving, and dimmable pendants over the island on their own switch.
Reflective elements — brushed steel splashback, glass shelving, polished tap — are placed deliberately to bounce that light back into the room.

Asked often.
Will a black kitchen make a small room feel smaller?
Not if it is lit correctly. In compact rooms we lighten the worktop and splashback and keep the dark tone to the base units, which holds the depth without closing the room in.
Do black fronts show fingerprints?
Gloss lacquer does. We specify a fine-textured matte anti-fingerprint front as standard for exactly this reason.
How much does a black industrial kitchen cost in London?
Most projects fall between £38,000 and £95,000 fitted. Bespoke metalwork and full-height stone are the two elements that move the figure most. No middlemen.
Can the steel be made in another metal?
Yes — brass, aged bronze, pewter and raw stainless are all fabricated to the same drawings by the same metalworkers.
